Understand Your Own Mental Health
It took me a long time to learn this. But one rule I stand by is understanding your own mental health.
Understanding your mental health is important so you know how to react to certain feelings you have. It’s our foundation of our peace and happiness and affects so many different aspects of our lives. To understand our own mental health theres some things I think you can't overlook when it comes to taking care of yourself. There’s five small but important details I like to pay attention to when I think about how I’m watching my mental heath.
Your thoughts shape your reality
Your thoughts have the most power over you. They can shape our reality and influence our emotions and behaviors. With so much power we have to be mindful of our thoughts and focus on positive and powerful things. Instead of thinking about all of the negative things going on in our lives, lets try to recreate them in a positive way. Remember, you have the power to control your thoughts and create positive thoughts.
Practice gratitude
Gratitude gives me the ability to be thankful for all that I have in my life and what’s to come. It helps me focus on the positive things in life and appreciate what I have rather than what I don’t have. It helps me not compare my situation to those I see online, but be present right where my feet are. When we practice gratitude, we have the ability to feel happier and more content with our situation. If I were you, I’d try to make it a habit to write down things you're grateful for every day, and you might start to notice a change in your mindset if it’s something you believe in.
Self-care is essential
Taking care of yourself is something you owe to yourself. You only get one body and I suggest that you tale care of it like your life depends on it, because it does. Im a huge believer in moving the body, whether it means working out, playing sports, or even just taking a walk. Soaking in the sun and eating whole clean foods is also something I stand by. As well as exercising the mind. Your brain is a muscle that needs a break from the screen. Read a book, listen to a podcast, or your favorite music. I think human interaction is what we were put on this earth for, so don’t be afraid of who you are, embrace it and show off what you have. You have ONE body, treat it that way.
Reach out for support
No one should have to go through life alone. Life isn’t easy so you have to do your best to build a support system of friends, family, or a mental health professional. When we share our struggles with others, we can feel less alone and get the support we need to overcome the challenges ion our life. Don't be afraid to reach out for help when you need it, were all humans and we all need it at some point in our lives.
Embrace the present moment
The present moment is all we have, and if we keep wishing away what we will or won't have, we’re going to waste the moment were in. When you focus on the present moment, we have the ability to feel more alive, mindful, and even connected to exactly where we need to be. Doing your best to engage in things that bring you into the present moment and living where your feet are is the most important thing you can practice in this life you have.
Working on our mental health is an ongoing process that needs daily practice and self-awareness. But when you ignore it, it can come crashing down out of nowhere. The best advice I can give you is living in the moment and being happy with what you have. Humans always tend to want more, but sometimes less it more. Be with the ones you love and lean on them for support. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, and always keep growing. A humans growth never stops, even when you think you have it all figured out.
Be where your feet are
