Head of Volunteers Nathaniel Hernandez

Nathaniel Hernandez is currently a high school baseball player at  North Broward Prep in Coconut Creek, FL. Nate has had to deal with health and mental battles on and off the field. After being diagnosed with a possible life threatening skin disease he fell into a stage of hating the way he looked leading to an effect of his performance on the field. Consequently, he decided he needed to share his story with others who have gone through a similar situation and help the community of athletes dealing with mental struggles. Therefore, he joined the Bigger than the Game team as Head of volunteering. Through his role as Head of Volunteering, he’s working to create opportunities for athletes to connect beyond just the game. This has included organizing checkins, setting up service funding projects to sell our products, and helping promote the website where other athletes can feel safe to share their stories. He knows firsthand how isolating it can feel to struggle in silence, and he wants to make sure no athlete feels like they have to go through it alone.
